This week we used different interpolation methods to create a surface for the water quality of the Tampa Bay area. There were a couple different methods we used one being just observing the non-spatial data we were given which didn't turn much in the way of results without elaborating a bit more on it. So then we used the Thiessen and the IDW techniques which I found to be pretty similar to one another. I found that both stayed fairly close to the original points we were given. Each one varied from the original measurements by a point to a fraction of a couple points or so. These two I feel like reflected the original values the best to the points in the most user friendly way I feel like. The last method which we had to use a couple times in a couple different ways was the spline method. This was changed a couple different times because we had a anomaly which I feel was caused by inappropriate dot points placed in areas they didn't need to be. This altered the view of the map slightly and made the map a bit harder to interpret I feel like. So we moved some points which cleaned up the map view slightly. I feel like this method is the most accurate to how the map should look from these points but on the other side of it I think it can be the easiest to distort as well. If the points are not properly placed or there are too many on top of each other it distorts the view of it. I think that this would be the better methods depending on the set up of the data being pulled from it. I am including the screenshot from the altered spline below.
