Geocoding-Lab5

This week we had two different tasks to accomplish. The first was to accurately learn how to use Excel in a way we could create tables and use XY coordinates in a very efficient manner. The second was to use part 1's skills to help us create a giant table of the different types of schools that are in the Brevard County, FL area and to geocode their locations as well. Not only this week did we learned how to navigate in Excel to not only create basic tables but to combine a very poorly pasted page into something legible. We learned how to use the offset, mid and search functions to pull information from other cells into the columns to which we actually needed them. Once you do this you can copy the code all the way down by dragging to finished cell and it automatically updates all of the columns cells from this. This ability can save hours of typing and head scratching to update an Excel Sheet. Once we combined all our information on the Brevard County schools into a finished list I uploaded this into an ArcGISPro map. We then pulled up the Florida counties and narrowed our search into the Brevard County area. Most of our points were already marked but We had to manually point some of them back out. While they were close I had to manually find their actual location while referencing streets to google maps and finalized these points locations. The point of this map is so that all of the schools can be located accurately on the map and even possible that they could use these to design future plans on the locations of new schools or where students will go too. Without the proper locations of schools we wouldn't be able to accurately gauge which school districts students reside in as well. This lab helps us accurately not only judge where the schools are located but what to do if they are wrong and need to be fixed. Once done I wrapped up the project and updated the finished map product on the ArcGIS Online account and published it as view able by everyone. This link for this map is located below and that was the end of this weeks lab.
