In this weeks lab we learned quite a bit of new information ranging from creating our normal map layouts as view able below in the two attached pictures. We also learned a good bit about how to edit our maps so that we can outline and resize our photos that way they can crop together. This being a very useful skill because it allows us to create our own guidelines that way we can highlight specific features which need to be seen like in the lower UWF Campus and Eagle Nest Map you can see the buildings, the roads, eagle nest/buffers, the street we added (Campus Lane) and the building which we added our own polygon around (UWF Gym). In the second map we made which is the UWF Campus only in a 3-D aspect this time. It doesn't highlight our other features as the other map did and only focuses in on the Campus Lane and the UWF Gym. The other features buildings, roads, and the UWF_DEM values are also there on the legend but are not the key takeaways from this map. In the first map we delved into piecing together multiple layers and allowing them to click together that way they could overlay each other. To do this we had to add control points and slowly fit the layers together (which was quite hard in some scenarios). Hand in hand with this came doing the RMS error and transformation section which is also view able to the right of the main map. This allows us to judge how accurate our layers are being overlapped giving us the opportunity to get them as close as possible. With the eagles nest on the far right of the map this is surrounded by two buffers a 330 feet and 660 feet which gives us the surrounding area which cannot be disturbed whether it be construction or trail making. The second map is like the first in most senses it just doesn't focus in on the eagles nest and more allows us to play with the 3D features giving the map a more "topological" view. This giving clarity on the shape of the surrounding area and how all the buildings/land plays into each other. This map also carried over the raster data and gives us a more real world view on how advanced map making will look like. This weeks lab was very informative and worked in a lot of really advanced topics that allowed us to even further build on the skills we have been learning over the past weeks in our other labs. I feel now that I can build together my maps with a variety of techniques to get them as precise as possible. This being the last lab before the final this will probably be my last post its been real!
