Introduction GIS4006

I am currently on my final semester of my Bachelor's in Maritime Studies and am pursuing GIS on the side in order to fulfill my two last upper level elective credits. I heard about GIS through others in the building and was curious so I looked into it. I have worked in the civil construction field for some time now and am very versed in using Leica GPS systems. Being that I have already been hands on in the field for some time now both building jobs off GPS and doing layout I felt an instant connection to the field so I decided to take intro and then now cartography to see if I was interested. So far I am very into it and most of the topics come quite easy to imagine for me already having done lots of it hands on. If I do decide to pursue the Masters in GIS then I would plan on starting in the analyst field more than likely until I could find a geographer job in a an area where I could move to. I have lived in Pensacola, Fl all my life so this job field seemed like one where I could either make due with where I live or even find somewhere interesting to move to. I look forward to getting to know the rest of you throughout this course and seeing what different kinds of things we get to learn!
