Module 2a Lab: Land Use/ Land Cover Classification

In this week we had to perform accuracy assessment as well as sampling protocol on a map of Pascagoula, Mississippi. In this we had to observe a aerial map and then choose feature that we thought were on the map whether it be residential areas, beaches, waterways, commercial buildings or anything of the such. After this we had to choose a sampling of points (I choose random sampling) and then we had to identify those points and see if they actually matched what we had on the map. For mine I felt like they were all pretty accurate so I left it as is. There were a couple that were close but I still felt like they matched out pretty well. Once this was done we had to create a mapping system that color coordinated the different features that we had and put all this together on a map which will be listed below. This week we learned a lot about delineating the land and being able to do birds eye identifying of the land from a high up picture which doesn't have much zooming capabilities. This was very instructional and I feel like my map turned out very well.
