Lab 3: Intro to ERDAS Imagine and Digital Data

In this week we did some work on the ERDAS 2000 which involved a file that the map above is based off of. It is in Olympic National Park which is located in Washington State. In this map I took a specified forested section which I have mapped above on the left as well as a picture on the right which shows the specified section with the topographic map surrounding it as well. This image also shows the section chosen with the land cover classification that illustrates things such as bare ground or water. This week was a interesting learning experience using a new program being ERDAS 2000 and being able to import a altered map in this program into Arc GIS Pro which I then turned into the map shown above. This map details the ability of being able to view specific plots of land and then being able to not only interpret the land cover but also being able to classify certain areas which may have heavy pixilation. This is a very important skill for any GIS analyst to be very proficient in and this lab helped me achieve that skill with much more.
