This week involved a couple different aspects including creating both a map comparing 4 counties in Florida in both a standard ArcGISPro map, a map which accounts for the actual shape of the planet reflecting that on the shape/rotation of Florida and lastly a map which points Florida to true north. In these projections not only do we see the different way to which Florida actually is positioned. We also are able to compute the square miles of the counties located in the table on the bottom right of the map. As can be viewed by these measurements each of these maps shows a different number (minus Escambia county which remains pretty consistent across the board) with some of these counties being off by quite a few square miles showing the need for verification of information no matter what you are using. In the second part of this assignment we got to experience some in field work by using the ArcGIS Collector apps on our phones to locate some infrastructure items in our local area. I choose fire hydrants and took pictures and descriptions of 5 separate fire hydrants. We then combined these with a map to which we created of the local area in which we were surveying. These hydrants were then tagged and we connected this to the ArcGIS Online site as well where these files were also available. In the end we connected our map to google earth to which we were able to show our points in real life photos with google earth detailing the surrounding area.

This week was very exciting with us not only learning some great new map techniques involving some real life applications. We were also able to get into the field which taught me some real life applications of the field which was great. This week has further helped us get even closer to becoming a true GIS user.
