Intro for GIS Applications

Hello My name is Christopher Williamson,

I am born and raised in Pensacola, FL and obtained my Bachelor's in Maritime Studies from UWF as well. I have only been involved in the GIS field for a short time now but, have long used the applications of GPS in my line of work. I enrolled in the GIS program as way to hopefully broaden my experience in the workforce and to hopefully land myself a new position in my company. I work full time (50+ hours a week) at a local construction company. In the past decade or so the use of GPS software has become a major foundation of the construction industry and is actually required on most state and federal jobs now. This equipment allows you to not only personally survey your job sites but, to also gain a broader understanding of how to build your jobs without the need for outside help. It has truly changed the way jobs are being built and isn't going away anytime soon. So, I figured learning how to build them in the most proficient manner would be to also expand my knowledge a bit in GIS. I currently am only taking the required classes in the path for the GIS Graduate Cert. Upon finishing three more classes including the internship in Fall I will be done. I have 1 child who is almost 10. His name is Adrian and he is also very interested in what I am doing on here as well. He often watches me while doing assignments and even comprehends a good bit of it as well. As far as an adjective to describe myself I believe genuine would be the best fit.

If there is any other questions feel free to ask! Otherwise I hope we have a good and enlightening next 8 weeks!
