GIS Post #2: GIS Job Search Assignment

My job search for GIS jobs both in the preferred area as well as the broader US turned up a vast multitude of results. The great thing for most GIS jobs specifically Analyst jobs is that they can usually be done fully online. So remote work is a typical thing to find on these job listings. This is a game changer for getting hired because even if your local area isn't hiring for GIS Analyst you could still do some across the country as long as you had the set up to do so. The job I found as a started is GIS Analyst out of Miami, Florida. This is within my own state so that was a preferred thing for me since I would like to only serve in Florida for my jobs mostly. It was also remote so I wouldn't even have to move although I probably still would as I am looking to move to Central/ South Florida anyways. While the job description doesn't quite line up with my current skill set I believe if given a bit more time and with a bit of a on the job learning curve I believe I could easily step into a job such as this. While this one specifically might not pan out there are still plenty others all over the place right now and will likely be so in the near future as well since the GIS field is vastly growing currently.

I found the job on my Linked In account.

The job mainly focuses on flood map distributing and working with FEMA to help identify future problem areas. With the vast amount of floods occurring in Florida right now and the fact that FEMA is the only agency/company which insures for flood insurance it makes sense you would be working hand in hand with them for this task.

I hope to find even more GIS jobs in the future like this one. It just shows the vast need and usefulness of the GIS field.
