Applications to GIS: Intro

 Hello Readers!

My name is Christopher Williamson and I am pursuing my Grad. Cert in GIS @ UWF. I got my bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies doing underwater archeology. I have a son Adrian and 2 fur children as well. I am a avid outdoors person and an aspiring naturalist as well. I have spent the bulk of my career in construction where I operated heavy equipment which was integrated with GPS systems. We used layout and model building methods to build our jobs so this is what initially got me interested in the field of GIS. I decided to leave that behind me in pursuit of a field in conservation. I am currently serving in the local state parks in my area treating invasive plants, doing natural resource management, doing native outreach, and the like. It has been a great field to get into and is bringing a newfound perspective into my life. I hope to use my GIS skills to further my conservation pursuit by using it to map invasives, imperiled species, firelines and so much more. GIS is integral to the conservation field in this day and age while the number of people doing it seem to not be keeping up with the demand currently. I am hoping that I can contribute much to this field and to help the Great State of Florida!
